So, we arrived home from Tennessee on Tuesday evening, December 21. We spent most of Wednesday at home, where I prepared the majority of our Christmas dinner, and then did a whole bunch of running around on Thursday. This ended up being fortunate, as the snow moved in on Christmas Eve and dumped a whole lot of it before the next morning!
On Christmas Eve, we had planned to go to the service at church but, due to the snow, finally opted to stay at home and watch it online. (Our church has started running all of its services live through justinTV.com, which is pretty cool!) We sang along with the Christmas carols and then listened to the message. Jeremy was a wild man, so we’re pretty glad that we didn’t try to actually get to church.
Shortly thereafter, the Pugh family, who had actually trucked over to church, joined us for a small Christmas Eve celebration. They were leaving for Colorado the next day, and we were guinea-pig sitting for them, so they had dropped Oreo off on the way to church. We had lots of snack foods and a very fun time visiting. If we are in town and they are in town, we get together…it’s become almost a Christmas Eve tradition!
After they left, the kids opened their traditional Christmas Eve gifts: pajamas and a game.
Then, we put Jeremy to bed, as it was way past his bedtime, and played a game of Mouse Trap, which is surprisingly fun. Then, it was time to leave out some cookies for Santa, read our final Christmas devotional, which was the Christmas story, and tuck our older two kids into bed.
Whew! What a long day! The kids were totally psyched for Christmas, so we knew that it would likely be a short night. We made a few additional preparations and then tumbled into bed ourselves.
Christmas was almost here!
